TWICE TOLD

There is a picture in my mind
I believe it colors all
It says my life must understand
The taming of the small
But beyond the tiny figures
That are etched upon my soul
The wind upon the mountain
Tells why I must be told
For many years I've held the tears
Of those who will not cry
I've seen the reason for the dead
And for those who seldom die
Many times I saw the crimes
In a disconcerting way
Yet what was lost
Would always cost
And again I'd stand to pay
But I cannot seem to question
This ever impending fate
I only hope tomorrow shows
It hasn't come too late
Yet what will be will always be
As I grow from young to old
And the wisdom I'll encounter
Shows Why and Who were told...
